Pets that Blog: Meet Ellie & Edmond

Author’s Note: Ellie & Edmond aren’t really “pets” per say. But they do a great job of showcasing animals and trying to educate people about different species and habitats. This is a great family blog as it is child appropriate and there are activities such as coloring pages and games to guess the animal.

Ellie, I read that you are the brains, how long does it take for you to do a post?
Hehehe- I may be the brains, but both Edmond and I write for the blog. It usually takes about an hour, after editing it and getting the photos up. We try and plan out what animals we are going to see in advance.

Edmond, do you and Ellie come up with crafts together or do you do it on your own?
We come up with the crafts together! Ellie is better at putting them together because of her prehensile trunk. Hooves are very hard to work with :)!

When did you two start the blog?
We started the blog in August of 2011. It was slow going at first, but we are picking up fans everyday and we’re super excited about it!

What has been your favorite post so far?
Hhhhhmmm… It is too hard to pick a favorite. We like going to local nature spots and we love meeting scientist (We interviewed a local frog scientist at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens- he was very interesting.)

What do you like most about blogging?
We love sharing animals that people have never heard about or may not get the spotlight like cute animals. We want people to know even tiny salamanders need love too!

How did you two meet?
I (Ellie) was traveling with our Photographer in Colorado! Edmond was hanging around this cute little bookshop and we hit it off instantly! We have been inseparable ever since.

Edmond, what is your favorite thing to do?
DANCE! I love to tap dance and get down!

Ellie, what are you favorite types of puzzles?
Hhhhmmm… I’ve always like mazes. It’s fun to go through them!

Do you have a sneak peek of future posts?
The Chinese New Year is the Year of the Horse- so look for some fun horse posts! Woot! Woot!

We’re also going to have an Ellie and Edmond art contest at some point this year!

Do either of you have any New Year’s Resolutions you would like to share?
We want to really help elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. We elephants really want to be around in the future. We’ll probably do a fundraiser for them this year.

Is there anything else you would like to add about yourselves?
We are so super excited that our fans and friends are learning about animals. We truly believe that you save what you love and we want people to help protect the planet and all it’s inhabitants.
