Black Cat Appreciation: Introduction by Smoky – Black Cats RULE!

smokypin   October. Fall is officially here.  The temperatures are cooling; the leaves are changing from green to yellow, orange and red.  It is time to pick the perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  One of the biggest holidays of the year – Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.
Halloween is “big business” in the United States.
According to the National Retail Federation:
  • the average celebrant will spend $75.03 on decorations, costumes and candy
  • 43.6% plan to dress up and will spend a total of $2.6 billion
  • 13.8% will find the perfect costume for their pet and will spend $330 million
  • $2.08 billion will be spent on candy
  • $1.96 billion will be spent on decorations, second only to Christmas
Halloween perpetuates the stereotype that black cats are evil, bad luck and scary.
Black cats, in many cases, are the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized due to the superstitions and stereotypes associated with black cats.
Black cats will not steal your soul, but they will steal your heart.
Peace, Love & Whiskers will be celebrating 31 black (or mostly black) cats during the 31 days of October.
I hope you will join me on October 12th for my Black Cat Ball. Show your support of black cats and help raise money for three very deserving charities in the raffle and auction. There will be virtual party on Facebook in Prince Pan Pan’s Royal Art Gallery.
